Tools for Discovery

Tools for Discovery is a series that dives into the discography of (mostly) veteran bands for the purposes of making the exploration of their work a less intimidating task for those curious about them. As with many of the ideas given shape on Kevy Metal, this series is something I wish existed when I was trying to get into the music of these bands, and many others.

The focus of the series is on bands not from Northwestern Europe or North America and/or those not singing in English. After all, these are the bands whose discographies are often most difficult to get a decent grasp of for foreigners. But if I feel like it, or if a theme calls for it, bands from more conventional rock and metal territories might appear here as well.

There are some conditions for a band to be featured on Tools for Discovery. Obviously, I need to be knowledgeable enough about the band in question to be able to write something useful about them. Also, they need to have a fairly sizeable discography. A band with three albums, however legendary, isn’t going to give me a lot of options for good content.
