Helloweek 2025

Back in April 2025, I was invited to a listening session of the Helloween album ‘Giants & Monsters’, which had just been mixed at the time. The entire band was available for interviews at the event, and I had the chance to interview no less than four members of the band. The interviews have all been published here in the week of the release of ‘Giants & Monsters’, under the name of Helloweek 2025. The year is mostly there in case I ever get the chance to do this again with the same band.

All four interviews, plus the review of ‘Giants & Monsters’ and a special Tools for Discovery dedicated to Helloween’s original studio album discovery are available in full right here. Have fun, and enjoy the Spotify playlists I have curated myself.

  • Tools for Discovery: Helloween Albums Ranked

Much of Helloweek 2025 focuses on the new Helloween album ‘Giants & Monsters‘, but for the sake of completeness, I thought looking back on the band’s entire discography would also be in order. After all, the Germans released a couple of true power metal classics, a few masterpieces later in…

  • Interview Dani Löble (Helloween): “I Have Never Drummed as Much as for This Album”

Swiss drummer Dani Löble has been the engine of Helloween for the past twenty years. Hearing him talk about the recordings of ‘Giants & Monsters’ gives the impression of a veritable playground for him as a drummer, and it has become the most elaborate drum recording of his career. “For…

  • Interview Markus Grosskopf (Helloween): The Pulse and the Heartbeat

Bassist Markus Grosskopf is one of only two members who has survived all the member shake-ups Helloween has endured through the years. Through the years, Grosskopf has developed from a melodically strong bassist with a great stage presence to a surprisingly prolific songwriter. And although the regular edition of ‘Giants…

  • Album of the Week 34-2025: Helloween – Giants & Monsters

Helloween’s second album with their supersized all-star line-up is a fairly logical follow-up to what they were doing on ‘Helloween‘ (2021). ‘Giants & Monsters’ features a similar mix of a contemporary, bombastic take on the power metal sound the band pioneered in the eighties, and occasional AOR leanings, but it…
